Our History

Our History

our history

Sanderson Cleaning Services was founded in 1990 by Terry Sanderson.

SCS supply high quality, safe and efficient window and façade cleaning solutions. We use the latest cleaning technologies available such as water-fed poles, MEWPS (Mobile Elevated Work Platforms), abseiling and scaffold towers and are experienced in all aspects of modern BMU systems. We offer all popular forms of window and façade cleaning and are practised in all access methods enabling us to provide the safest and most economical method of cleaning windows and buildings.

For many years SCS was a sub-contractor to clients such as Mitie, Principle Cleaning Services, Temco, OFM and Premium. In 2014 we were awarded the contract for The City’s tallest building The Leadenhall Building.

Following on from this success we are now acknowledged as a leading company in the industry and are winning contracts directly with Estate Management companies. SCS has many other key clients including The Globe Theatre and News UK’s new home.

Working with SCS

We are committed to recruiting staff from our local area and allowing people from other industries or careers the opportunity to retrain, therefore, amongst other sources, we use the following organisation to assist us with our recruitment

East London Business Alliance (ELBA)

As a business based in East London we aim to use ELBA to recruit staff for sites wherever possible.  ELBA understand the needs of east London and how companies can best channel their resources and influence to make an impact, playing their part in the regeneration solutions for the area. In a nutshell, ELBA is a membership organisation that exists to bring about positive change in east London, connecting the public, private and voluntary sectors and empowering them to create exciting possibilities. ELBA aims to help its corporate partners innovate, collaborate and think differently about how they give back. The results are often diverse, innovative with a hugely positive impact on the community

Resettlement for Ex Service Personnel

The Career Transition Partnership (CTP) is a partnering agreement between the Ministry of Defence and Right Management Ltd, who are global career development and outplacement specialists and part of the Manpower Group.

The CTP provides resettlement services for those leaving the Royal Navy, Army, Royal Air Force and Marines. Regardless of time served, all members of the Armed Forces can benefit from CTP support when leaving Service.

We also operate as an intermediary service for employers wishing to hire Service leavers.

Our Commitment to social responsibility

We are committed to conducting our business in ways that provide all our staff with a safe and healthy work environment.

We believe that our staff are our greatest asset. We know that by ensuring everyone is happy in their work, our staff will deliver exceptional customer service which in turn –makes our customers happy.   We invest in our staffs Continuing Professional Development and recognise potential where we see it.

Safe working environments cannot be achieved by simply having good safety systems and procedures. The way that every one of us thinks and acts, our Behaviour, is the single biggest contributor to creating safe working environments. By recognising this, all our staff receive coaching to enable them to understand how the everyday choices we all make can have such a dramatic influence on our own safety and the safety of those around us.

We also work hard to minimise our impact on the Environment, from buying neutral cleaning products when possible, employing from the local area and creating van shares for our mobile sites.

Charitable Commitments

As a business we are committed to supporting 2 charities.

The Honeypot Children’s Charity which provide respite breaks and outreach support to young carers and vulnerable children aged 5-12 years. Most of the children are young carers who juggle school and growing up whilst performing a surrogate adult role at home. Many care for a chronically or terminally ill loved one, or have a parent with drug, alcohol or mental health problem. They also work with vulnerable children from homes with extreme social, financial or emotional challenges. These children are often victims of abuse or neglect and many will be on the Child Protection Register. They offer a programme of long term, personalised and consistent support that gives hope and encouragement to these children. This includes a holiday once a year, birthday cards, photos, Christmas presents and visits from the Honeypot Playbus.

The Army of Angels UK Forces Charity provides direct and indirect support to serving and veterans in the British Armed Forces who have been injured mentally or physically while serving in conflicts, including veterans of the wars in Europe, the Far East, the Falklands and the Gulf. They also support their families and co-dependents.

The Army of Angels UK Forces support charity are dedicated to ensuring that all donations are translated into meaningful help for our deserving heroes and their families as quickly as possible. Some of the things they provide include:

  • Household necessities and personal items
  • Home alterations
  • Rehabilitation equipment
  • Respite breaks.

We also regularly sponsor individuals and teams taking part in events for a variety of charities that are important to the company and staff.  For example our staff raised £520 for 3 friends who took part in the Virgin London Marathon raising money for Children with Cancer.  We also sponsor a local children’s football team to enable them to buy new kit and enter tournaments and competitions.
